The chance to see patients walk into the clinic when that would not have been possible; or to see them looking forward to making use of their increased abilities and independence is of immeasurable importance. It doesn't translate to numbers on spirometry or medication effect; it's the ability to learn how much people can do when provided the encouragement, support and education of caring professionals, and patients just like them.

A valuable component of WCTC's program is the extensive patient and family education that physicians, due to time constraints, don't have the opportunity to provide.

My patients love WCTC and have improved their functional independence tremendously. They refer often to the caring and knowledgeable staff.

Patients comment on how they feel safe in the environment with the skilled staff monitoring their vital signs as they exercise and increase their endurance. The education and feedback on breathing techniques is also very valuable.

One component of the rehabilitation process at WCTC that I've noticed, of the many patients I've referred, is that treatment plans are very individualized and incorporate the patient's personal goals.
